We updated the Active Directory Domain and Schema to native 2003 mode. We then installed the new Microsoft Exchange 2010 Server on their brand new Microsoft Server 2008 R2 machine. Make sure you e-mail for my handy dandy migration guide. I am a stickler for Standard Operating Procedures. The migration was very delicate because we had to ensure the Directors were up and running first so we did this in a phased process. After the migration we decommissioned the old Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server. I then reconfigured their existing Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.1 (yes even though it is not supported with 2010). They were up and running Monday morning, with their brand new Unified Communications Certificates (UCC) SSL Certificate. We used an ioSafe (external hard drives and network storage solutions which are fireproof and waterproof) to create their Microsoft Windows 2008 backups, which are new and improved. Not bad for a weekend worth of work.
